Dominic Morlan

Dominic Allen Morlan graduated from Hamilton High School domin the Spring of 2012. He currently studies at Grand Valley State University.

Dominic was sworn in to the National Guard component of the United States Army in March 2015, and after completing Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training he took his place as a euphonium player in the 126 Army Band. commonly referred to as “The Governor’s Own”. Within the band he is also a part of the 5-Star Brass Quintet. On the 126’s most recent annual training concert tour he was featured as a soloist with the concert band, and played in support of the Livefire rock band on trombone.

At Grand Valley, Dominic studies under Dr. Paul Carlson on the euphonium. Dominic currently performs with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Varsity Men’s Glee Club, Laker Marching Band, and Sinfonian Tuba Quartet. He has previously been a member of the Grand Valley Concert Band, University Band, and Basketball Pep Band, and Wu-Tuba Clan Tuba Quartet. Dominic performed as a soloist in Grand Valley’s annual Octubafest recitals from 2012 – 2014. He will be returning to the Octubafest stage in the 2016 concert series this November.

Through his primary education, Dominic studied under Nicole Bier, Kim Suhusky, and Joseph Herrick as a trumpet player. In high school he performed with Hamilton’s Hawkeye Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Pep Band. Additionally, Dominic performed frequently at MSBOA Solo and Ensemble festival at the district and state levels as both a soloist and as part of various trio and quintet ensembles, garnering numerous Division I and II ratings. He served as trumpet section leader for two years in the Hawkeye Marching Band, and as a teacher’s assistant in Hamilton Middle School during the 2011-2012 academic year. Dominic was selected as the recipient of the Senior Band Award in 2012.

Dominic was initiated as a brother of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity in December 2012.
